The US elections of 2012 are at a climax right now. The final showdown is just round the corner and both candidates are running their electoral campaigns at a feverish pitch. This year, like everything else, the presidential campaign too has gone wired.

In July, 2012, CNN and Facebook teamed up to cover the electoral battleground like it has never been covered before. With over 160 million users in US, Facebook alone can aptly gauge the pulse of American electorate.

Here are some more interesting information updates regarding the campaign usage of Facebook this year:

1. Facebook and CNN have launched an interactive I’m Voting Facebook application to ensure maximum voting. The commitment to vote is being displayed on people’s Facebook timeline, news feed, and real-time ticker.
2. The partnership agenda includes the “I’m Voting” application as the “second screen” for CNN’s America’s Choice 2012 electoral coverage.
3. During the previous elections in 2008, there were about 40 million Facebook users in the US. Today, there are more than 160 million which encompasses almost the entire voting public in the United States.
4. According to a Pew Internet and American Life survey, Facebook users who engage with politicians are twice as likely to vote as non-Facebook users.
5. The 2012 United States presidential elections will be held on Tuesday, November 6, 2012.
